Consistently Inconsistent: The Cycle of Showing Up, Burning Out & Disappearing
This is the topic that not only hindered my coaching business journey, but it's become the basis of my whole business. It sparked not only a need to go deeper in my own healing and understanding. But the more I learnt, the more I wanted to know. Something settled in me, The restlessness was gone, and I knew my struggles had meaning. This is my purpose. My mission, so it would be rude not to talk about it.
And this is it.
You start strong. You’re posting. You’re showing up. you’re doing al the things to get seen, just like all the ‘gurus’ tell you to.
Then.......Crickets.
Nothing! Nada!
You’re engagement is low and you feel like your content, that took you so long to create, just vanishes into the void.
Its more than a little disheartening isn’t it? It opens the floodgates of your own thoughts and suddenly,...
You’re questioning everything!
Why the hell am I even doing this?
Maybe I’m not cut out for this business malarkey?
Maybe people just don’t give a flying fuck about what I’ve got to say!
So you miss a day, “no-one will notice”,
then another “I’ l do it tomorrow”, and before you know it you’ve stopped posting altogether.
A few weeks later and the guilt hits hard, “you should be showing up”, “you can’t build a business if you don’t show up”, “ you know consistency is key”, “Here’s another thing you’re failing at”,...
On and On.
“Ok! Ok”, You have a word with yourself and then you make a big comeback, determined that this time it will al be different.
Until it's NOT.
Welcome to the cycle of being consistently inconsistent.
Do you recognise it?
The pressure to be ON all of the time.
As coaches, healers, entrepreneurs, we're constantly told that visibility is everything.
That if you’re not showing up 5 or 6 times a day you’ll be forgotten.
That if you don’t do this consistently, you’re audience won’t trust you.
Now while consistency absolutely does matter, forcing yourself to show up from a place of stress, pressure and self-doubt, that we know is there, loitering in the background, doesn’t exactly make up for magnetic energy.
It just makes showing up feel like another chore, (and who needs more of them?)
The result of this energy is even less engagement, and of course, the less engagement you get, the harder it is to keep going. It just fuels that doubt that was there loitering, pushing it front and centre of your mind.
“I’m not good enough!
“What’s the point if no-one cares?”
“This just isn’t working!”
And again you find yourself quietly retreating, missing a day, a week, a month!
Its not because you don’t want to be consistent, Its just that every post that ‘disappears’ into that void starts feeling like proof that you’re failing.
And it's this that really stops you growing.
This stop-start pattern isn’t just messing with your content strategy, it’s reinforcing the belief that you can’t be successful!
Every time you’ve disappeared, it feels like starting over.
Every time you’ve stopped, you lose your momentum, not just in your business, but in you, in your confidence, capabilities, in your worth.
It keeps you in a loop of ‘trying’, feeling overwhelmed, burning out, hiding, then trying again.
Its soul destroying, I completely understand your pain, because I’ve been there so many times I can’t even count how many.
I don't want your journey to take as long as it's taken me.
So let me ask you:
What if the problem isn’t you?
What if you don’t need to ‘fix’ your inconsistency?
Are you confused? Don’t be, I'm going to share.
The shift that changes everything
I used to think it was about shifting my mindset.
Telling myself, "Just share what matters to you."
"Keep going, people are watching even if they're not engaging".
"Consistency comes from alignment not pressure".
And while those things sound good, and they worked for a while, they didn't stick.
I found myself back in the same old cycle.
Because I hadn't gone deep enough.
I was caught in the freeze response that looked like procrastination, avoidance and overwhelm. But I was ghosting my success because my nervous system didn't feel safe.
It wasn't a strategy issue.
It wasn't a mindset issue, my mind was onboard.
It was a survival pattern issue.
You can't think your way out of freeze. You have to feel your way out.
That is the shift.
That's what changes everything.
Not pushing yourself to be more consistent.
Not forcing yourself to show up.
The burnout and overwhelm just hits harder when you do this.
But learning to recognise the pattern that's pulling you out of action. Then you can work with it, not against it.
This is what I support you with in L.E.A.P.
Because consistency doesn't come from discipline. It comes from nervous system safety, self-trust, and knowing how to disrupt the old patterns that are keeping you stuck.
So if you’re ready to break free from the cycle of being consistently inconsistent, then I’d love to support you.
